39 The Thuringian State and University Library (ThULB) The ThULB is the University library and state library of the State of Thuringia. It encompasses all the library institutions within the University. The ThULB provides the required literature and additional information media for teaching, research, and study programmes—not only in Jena, but on a national level. By registering with the University, you are registered as a library user automatically. Your thoska card serves as your library card for borrowing, copying, printing, and settling charges. At the beginning of each semester, you may attend courses introducing you to the library services. In electronic course reserves, you can access a compact package of materials and information selected by your lecturers for a particular course. Using your university credentials via VPN, you have also access to electronic newspapers, books, and databases licensed by ThULB from your workplace at home. thulb.uni-jena.de/en/home University Computer Centre (URZ) and Multimedia Centre (MMZ) The URZ provides its services and facilities to all employees and students at the University supporting research, teaching, and administration. The Multimedia Centre is affiliated with the URZ. The URZ is one of the most important institutions for digital communications, technical equipment in the University facilities, and IT support. As a new student you will receive your personal login credentials for using the Internet.
