49 ACCOMODATION It is quite possible that you needed some time to find the right accommodation to match your size and price expectations. If you have not found the right lodgings, yet, this section may give you some useful pointers on finding your accommodation in Jena. The Studierendenwerk operates over 28 dorms in Jena, providing a good service for a reasonable price for students. The rental prices for roughly 3,100 accommodation units currently range between €200 and €350. stw-thueringen.de/en/housing You can compare the different accommodation options available on the website and apply for your unit of choice. All flats have basic facilities and are suitable for both people looking for their own apartment and those who prefer sharing with others. International students and students with disabilities receive special support while searching for their accommodation from the advisory services. The INFOtake, the information desk of the Studierendenwerk, can help you to find a private accommodation if you were not entitled to a place in one of the dorms or would prefer a private accommodation. If you are looking for a private room in Jena from abroad, we advise looking in neighbouring towns and cities, too (Weimar, Erfurt, Kahla, Gera, Apolda). It is best to do so using the Internet. There are many information boards in the university buildings displaying available rooms and flats. uni-jena.de/en/jena-living-international Another way of saving on rent and doing something for your fellow citizens at the same time is the project Housing for Help (Wohnen für Hilfe). As part of this scheme, citizens of Jena offer students a free accommodation.
